Meanwhile, ISO 8995-1 and CIE S 008 define workplace lighting requirements, yet most creators work under ambient conditions that vary wildly—from 150 lx in a dim studio to 15,000 lx on a sunlit set. A 2021 study in Applied Sciences found that under extremely high ambient illuminance (15,000 lx), black text on a light-gray background is the most comfortable combination for tablet reading. But who measures that? Who even knows their ambient lux level?

GB 40070 specifies limits for blue light hazard in displays. These are not abstract numbers; they are the difference between a comfortable viewing experience and one that causes digital eyestrain. And yet, they are invisible to the vast majority of creators.
